The California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) is co-sponsoring Assembly Bill 1849, legislation that would require the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to assess the amount of decarbonized gaseous fuel needed for hard-to-electrify end uses statewide.

The bill recently cleared the Assembly Natural Resources Committee on a 10-0 vote, with four members abstaining. It heads next to the Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee, with a hearing scheduled for April 22.

CHBC President and CEO Katrina Fritz testified before the Natural Resources Committee in support of the bill, joined by Julia Levin of the Bioenergy Association of California and Assemblymember Diane Papan, the bill's author.

“This legislation requires CARB to assess the amount of decarbonized gaseous fuels that will be needed for hard-to-electrify end uses,” Fritz said.

CHBC is collecting organizational sign-ons for a committee letter in support of the bill.

Organizations interested in signing on are asked to submit a logo, official organization name, and signatory contact to info@californiahydrogen.org by April 22.
