Position Overview
The Manager of Partnerships & Business Development is responsible for driving growth by supporting the generation of new business opportunities. This role is heavily focused on the R&D side of industry sector cycles. You will act as a strategic market researcher, monitoring trends and mapping emerging verticals to recruit new industry partners and event partners beyond traditional solar. You will not be tasked with direct sales or selling square footage; instead, you will identify sectors ripe for growth, propose strategic agreements, and transition actionable exhibitor prospecting over to our internal sales team.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Monitors renewable energy and related industries to understand sector cycles and develop new market segments.
- Acts as the internal R&D lead for business development, researching what is happening across the clean energy space.
- Identifies new opportunities and ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and online channels.
- Performs deep market research and analysis to map emerging verticals like grid technologies.
- Finds and proposes deals/agreements with potential partners that align with our strategic plan and growth strategy.
- Collaborates seamlessly with the sales team, turning over ripe sectors and targets for exhibitor prospecting.
- Supports fulfillment efforts of partner engagements.
- Works closely with partner organizations, creating impeccable customer relationships.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong knowledge of the renewable energy industry. (Experience with American Clean Power (ACP) or similar industry networks is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, market research, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Ability to think strategically and solve problems based on research and analysis.
- Self-motivated individual who will take the initiative to seek out new business opportunities.
- Ability to manage the details of multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to travel occasionally (15%) to attend outreach events, site research, and partnership development
