MOVE LA climate series: emerging hydrogen and renewable gas technologies

FRIDAY, JULY 23 AT 10:00AM (PACIFIC). California has made important progress meeting the challenge of climate change —and can continue to show the world a way forward.

HEADING TOWARD SUCCESS #1

100% clean and renewable power by 2045. We are already halfway there.

HEADING TOWARD SUCCESS #2

California’s goal of 5 million zero-emission vehicles on our roads by 2030 and 100% of new cars and light-duty trucks zero-emission by 2035 is doable. Significant progress has been made in both product development and sales.

Below are our biggest remaining emission reduction challenges

for clean air and a healthy climate:

CHALLENGE #1

How do we quickly and dramatically reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants—aka Super Pollutants? These gases are more powerful climate-forcers than CO2 and therefore should be the very highest priority.

CHALLENGE #2

How do we fully and finally clean up heavy-duty, diesel-powered, mostly goods movement sector - long-haul trucks, trains, ships, planes, port and construction equipment?

And what could we do if California voters approved $70B+ over the next two decades to fight for clean air and abate climate change? Perhaps all of the above.

Our panelists will be:

• Chanell Fletcher, Deputy Executive Director of Environmental Justice, California Air Resources Board

• Cliff Gladstein, President, Gladstein, Neandross & Associates (GNA)

• Brian Goldstein, Executive Director, Energy Independence Now

• Eric Hoffman, President, Utility Workers Union of America, Local 132

• Madadh MacLaine, Founder and Secretary General of Zero Emissions Maritime Technology Association

• Assemblymember Bill Quirk, California State Assembly, former climate change scientist at NASA

• Dr. Sunita Satyapal, Director, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office, U.S. Department of Energy

• Michelle Sim, Director of Sustainability, Southern California Gas
