Washington State of Department of Commerce - Help shape Washington’s hydrogen technical assistance program

The Office of Renewable Fuels is developing a new technical assistance program to support organizations that use clean hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels. We are seeking input from hydrogen producers, end-users in related industries, and vendors who provide technical assistance. Your feedback will help shape the program, which is expected to have funding available through June 30, 2027.

Please respond to Commerce’s Request for Information by January 7, 2026. If you have questions, contact Shannon Pressler at Shannon.Pressler@commerce.wa.gov.

The RFI will inform the design of the technical assistance program, which will be supported by the 2025-27 state operating budget.

Background

Washington is committed to advancing green electrolytic hydrogen and other renewable fuels as part of the state’s transition to a net-zero economy. The legislative report Green Electrolytic Hydrogen and Renewable Fuels: Recommendations for Deployment in Washington includes modeling that identifies sectors are likely to need green electrolytic hydrogen and renewable fuels in the coming decades. The report shows where these fuels can be an effective way to reduce emissions and says the state can help speed up the use of these fuels, especially where testing, feasibility, supply, cost or other barriers are slowing progress.
