The Office of Renewable Fuels is developing specifications for a new technical assistance program targeted at strategic end users of green electrolytic hydrogen, renewable hydrogen, clean/low carbon hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels and products. The primary goal of the program is to advance the adoption of hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels and products in Washington in the near-term. The program is funded through the 2025-27 operating budget and is expected to be operational through June 30, 2027.
We recently closed a public request for information (RFI) opportunity that ran from early December through January 7, 2026. The RFI received nearly 60 responses, including diverse and robust input that will help inform the program scope and delivery details, including which entities are eligible to receive technical assistance, what industries will be included and prioritized, and what kinds of technical assistance will be provided.
Commerce is currently reviewing this feedback and is developing an initial program scope with the intention of publicly launching in spring 2026. We'll share additional information about the program and its official launch in the coming months.
