Title: Hydrogen Systems Engineer - Hornblower Shipyard 

Job Description: City Experiences is seeking a Hydrogen Systems Engineer for our Hornblower Shipyard operation in San Francisco, CA. Hornblower Group Inc is pioneer in bringing in zero emission powertrain solutions to maritime, many of which were first in the USA and world. We currently have multiple maritime hydrogen projects and plan to expand in strategic areas and would need someone who has experience in dealing with high pressure gaseous hydrogen systems and can architect and design hydrogen systems for maritime applications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design hydrogen systems for maritime applications
  • Lead the development, testing and establishment of a hydrogen fueling scheme for marine applications
  • Develop hydrogen system requirements and sub-system specifications
  • Identify key areas of research and development necessary to meet system-level requirements
  • Work with vendors, customer, and staff to develop large hydrogen fuel cell powerplants for marine applications and associated supporting infrastructure
  • Provide Hydrogen Systems subject matter expertise through generation of practices and principles
  • Participate in system and hardware design reviews
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
  • Compliance to Applicable Safety Codes and Standards
  • Keep a positive and proactive attitude, with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Travel within the United States and internationally to represent First Mode to its customers, vendors, and partners
  • Travel to project sites within the US and internationally as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' technical experience in Hydrogen systems is strongly desired.
  • Experience with 350 and 700 bar hydrogen storage systems (pressure vessels, valves, tubing & controls)
  • Exposure to code & standards such as NFPA-2, NFPA-55, IEC-600069, IMO and NEC codes related to hydrogen and maritime applications.
  • Strong domain knowledge in any one or more of the following areas:
  • Hydrogen value chain
  • Hydrogen production
  • H2 storage & transportation
  • H2 uses in industrial sector (Fuel cells)
  • H2 Safety
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Project
  • Ability to leverage how the system, environment, and operation will influence the design, manufacturability, and performance of equipment under consideration
