Company: California Air Resources Board
Job Description:

The Sustainable Transportation and Communities Division is recruiting for a motivated and team-oriented Air Pollution Specialist in the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Market Advancement Section within the Advanced Clean Cars Branch. The ZEV Market Advancement Section consists of a friendly team of professional staff supporting communication and implementation efforts for the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) ZEV regulation and the Clean Miles Standard (CMS) regulation to help achieve California's ambitious air quality, climate, and environmental justice goals.

The mission of the Advanced Clean Cars Branch is to foster a sustainable market for zero- and ultra-clean emission light-duty vehicle technologies through regulations and market supporting policies. The Advanced Clean Cars II program requires that 100% of new passenger cars and light trucks are zero emissions by 2035, as directed by Executive Order N-79-20. Accordingly, the ZEV Market Advancement Section seeks to implement complementary policies and regulations and increase information for California consumers regarding electric vehicles to facilitate ZEV adoption. These efforts include consumer awareness through marketing, research, education, and outreach; California, multi-state, and international ZEV partnership activities; assistance with ongoing implementation of the CMS regulation; and complementary ZEV policy assessments.

Under the supervision of an Air Resources Supervisor I, this position is responsible for supporting ongoing implementation of California’s ZEV regulation related to California vehicle owners’ opinions of, experiences with, and responses to ZEVs and supporting infrastructure. For the CMS regulation, this position will act as a subject matter expert on ride-hailing sustainability strategies, provide regulatory interpretation, and serve as CARB’s liaison to the implementing agency (the California Public Utilities Commission). In addition to supporting implementation of these regulations, this position will provide support for other outreach activities related to ZEVs in California. The position may require occasional travel up to 5% of the time for meetings, conferences, and stakeholder outreach.
